Project Highlights

Buffalo Creek Flood Profile
The Village of Palatine embarked upon a project to alleviate neighborhood flooding, affecting hundreds of homes in areas developed before modern stormwater practices. We developed an alternate design that included improvements to a major watercourse to increase the storage within Buffalo Creek, and to reduce the severity and frequency of bank overtopping and neighborhood flooding, all while preserving the upstream and downstream flood profiles of the creek. This work included all mapping, design, and H&H Modeling of improvements along with coordination, permitting, and map revisions from the Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The resulting improvements eliminated the need for flood insurance for all homes within this neighborhood thereby increasing property values and eliminating the damages that would result on these neighborhood homes from heavy rain events in this watershed.

Rockwell, Beverly & Ridge Reconstruction and Water &Sewer Main Upgrades
The Village of Arlington Heights undertook the replacement of an old water main and the reconstruction of roads and street lighting in the Scarsdale Neighborhood. We identified infrastructure conflicts in the systems and worked with the Village to help them identify the water main necessary for their incorporation into the yearly water main replacement program. This coordination work avoided a major transmission main and sewer systems conflicts that would have otherwise been impacted. This was then incorporated into the road reconstruction plans, combining roadway improvements with infrastructure replacements necessary for the longevity of the sewer and water systems.

Hilton Grand Vacation Properties Hurricane Restoration of Infrastructure
When Hurricane Ian destroyed much of Sanibel Island and Fort Myers Beach, there was an overwhelming need for infrastructure replacement to re-establish services to the impacted properties. We undertook numerous design projects which included the re-establishment of storm sewer systems washed away with the removal of entire beach-frontage properties as well as the replacement of beach dune walkovers to accommodate the resort and public access routes to the beaches. Design, permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies was a monumental undertaking due to the size and forces of Hurricane Ian and its impact on such a large number of homes, businesses, and resorts.
